4 Syte TV has announced the nominees for the 2010 Ghana Music Video Awards to be held at the Accra International Conference Centre on November 20. The nominees were announced at a meeting held at the offices of 4 Syte TV in Accra.

Financial Services Excellence Awards held in Accra

EUSBETT HOTEL Limited, the only 3-star hotel in the Brong-Ahafo Region, has received this year’s silver award in the hospitality category at the just-ended 2nd Ghana Business and Financial Services Excellence Awards held in Accra.
The awards ceremony, which is organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, is held annually to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of players in various industries during the year.

Tullow Oil Plc, the U.K. explorer with most licenses in Africa, plans to sell shares in Uganda and Ghana.

Ghanaian registered aircraft to fly directly

Ghana may, by middle of next year, become a United States Federal Aviation Administration (US-FAA) Category One nation in aviation business, the Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority has told B&FT.
The new status represents very high aviation safety and security standards and countries wishing to fly to the United States of America (USA) must have the certification.

Mills sends goodwill message to Muslims on holly month Ramadan‎

Accra-President John Evans Atta Mills has on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana sent a message of goodwill to Muslims who begin the fast of Ramadan today.
In a statement issued by the Information Ministry, President Mills said he wished all Muslims well in this holy month of fasting and prayed that Almighty Allah will accept their fasting.
President Mills admonished all Muslims to remember to pray for our great nation and seek Allah’s guidance and blessings for all Ghanaians.
The statement finally wished Muslims Ramadan Kareem.

Workers at Vodafone Ghana are expected to lose their jobs

Accra-Hundreds of workers at Vodafone Ghana are expected to lose their jobs through another compulsory redundancy exercise which the management of the company has described as a “necessary evil” meant to turn the financially ailing company from its present predicament of losses to one of profitability.

Milovan Rajevac yet to agree Ghana deal

Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo calls Ghanaian community for peace

Accra-The Ghana High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, has called on the Ghanaian community in the UK to eschew acts of violence and embrace peace. He said since the beginning of the year, between 6 and 8 Ghanaian children living in the UK had died as a result of violence and criminal activities.
Addressing the Ghanaian community over the weekend at this year’s ‘Party in the Park’, an annual event organised by Akwaaba UK, a promotion company, at Copthall stadium in North London, the Ghanaian High Commissioner urged the organisers to use such forums to get the youth together and get them out of violence, juvenile delinquency, knife and gun crimes, which he described as a menace to society.
Speaking to some thousands of Ghanaians living in the UK, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo said “such festivals and gatherings should be used not just for drinking and dancing and the fun that comes with it, but be used also to unite all of us as Ghanaians”. Read the rest of this entry »

Black Star Appiah signs for Lifetime to Cesena

Accra-Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah has signed a one year deal with Cesena, the Serie A new-boys revealed.
The 29-year-old was part of the Ghana squad’s memorable World Cup run to the quarter-finals in South Africa.
He spent last season at Bologna but played only two games and has played only a handful of club matches over the last three seasons.
But the Black Stars captain, who nonetheless was used only as a substitute in South Africa, has a wealth of experience in Italy where he has also donned the jerseys of Juventus, Parma, Udinese and Brescia since arriving in the country in 2000.
Following two years with Juve from 2003-05, he spent three seasons with Fenerbahce in Turkey.
